How to "Be the Match"

Thank you for participating with one of Be The Match’s online drives.  Please follow these steps to join our National Registry:

1. Go to www.marrow.org and click on the Join The Registry tab, followed by the Join Now tab
2. Proceed to Step 1 and check all boxes that apply to you and then click Go
3. Read over the Terms of Use and Donor Registration and Consent for HLA Typing information and then mark the appropriate boxes
4. Sign the Electronic Signature and click Next
5. Create an account (Name, e-mail and Password)
6. Your promo code for this drive is: KAREN
7. Complete the Security Code and click Next
8. Continue with the registration process
9. The Donor Responsibility for this drive is: $0
10. At the end of the registration, review information
11. Click the button that confirms you want a Buccal Swab kit sent to you
12. That’s it!  Your registration is done.  The Buccal Swab kit should be sent to you within 2 business days.

2013: New Beginnings

This year marks another year that we take an extended amount of time out of our days and take time to show honor and share our memories of Karen B Chapman.  Each year as we continue to bring awareness to the Big C, we hope to touch the lives of many people.  We would like to thank, our benefactor, the Southern Cancer Center Foundation, who have been instrumental in our Penny Drive each year.  We would also like to thank and welcome our relationships with American Cancer Society and bethematch.org for collaborating with us this year and the years to come.  We hope with everyones support and continued dedication we will continue to have successful years of raising awareness.

Today, February 3, 2o1o we lost a Black Butterfly, Arthur Lee Davis. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers as they go through this trying time.

Also, please help us fight this war against cancer!

Fundraiser Kick Off

The fundraiser kick off at Council Traditional was a success. Javonna, Tamia, Nikki, Raegan and Joshua were the representers for the fundraiser. The Penny Drive will begin on Monday, February 1, 2010 and last until February 9 ,2010. We will have the pizza/ice cream party and 52 balloon release on Friday February 12, 2010.

Happy Birthday to the one who gave me life. She is my most treasured memory! That one person I would never forget. I thank her for all of the memories we shared, all of the lessons learned, all of the "its time to grow up" speeches, and of course, all of the love. One of the funniest memories I have of my mother was when we would wrestle, and each time she would "take me down". I used to always say it was because she was my mom and I was laughing...but she knew, she was a true Super Woman! I miss her dearly!
